Sustainability

The foundation of both international trade and the world economy is the maritime sector. Currently, 2-3% of the world’s CO2 emissions come from the maritime industry. The United Nations agency that oversees the shipping sector, the International Maritime Organization (IMO), has set a goal to reduce the sector’s carbon emissions by half by 2050 compared to 2008 levels, with the ultimate goal of doing away with them completely. For many years, the sector has been undergoing change, concentrating on strategies to achieve decarbonization and reduce emissions. IMO 2050 standards are soon to be implemented. Given its potential to fundamentally alter our business, decarbonization is arguably the biggest and most urgent problem facing shipping in light of the escalating climate disaster.

Sustainability is a strategic imperative for Emar Tank Storage BV, above all, a business priority. We recognize the pivotal role we play in connecting the world, and our strong core values and long-term view drive our commitment to playing our part in creating a sustainable future. At Emar Tank Storage BV, we firmly believe that in the future, environmental credentials will become as important a consideration for vessel owners as health and safety. Vessels under our fleet reduced carbon emissions by 4 per cent in 2021. With the new technology on the horizon, and green fuels, there is huge scope to cut this even further.

Enabling Logistics Decarbonisation

As we manage the energy transition, climate action is a global priority that calls for cooperation. Stovep Marine, a prominent business, is essential to the decarbonization of logistics. To enable the investments required for decarbonization and to speed solutions at scale, cooperation along the supply and value chain is essential. By pursuing carbon neutrality, assisting with logistics transition solutions, and keeping an eye on energy efficiency, we facilitate the decarbonization of logistics.

Both at its offices and on board its ships, our organization upholds stringent health and safety regulations, which include frequent exercises, staff training sessions, and comprehensive medical examinations for traveling employees. We also take environmental consciousness and energy efficiency extremely seriously. Whenever feasible, energy consumption is reduced through the use of innovative technology and the implementation of workable solutions. We make every effort to minimize the quantity of waste generated. Additionally, our employees are trained to use the least amount of energy, chemicals, and wastewater.

Our Dedication To Protecting The Marine Environment

In order to position itself as a leader in environmental practices for ship management, both at sea and ashore, Stovep Marine has pledged to adopt and promote industry standards and best practices in response to the shipping industry’s increased scrutiny regarding its environmental practices. Our present efforts to assist decarbonization include tracking our CO2 emissions in all of our processes and optimizing fuel use through intelligent use of systems and measuring tools. The earlier we start addressing our carbon emissions, the better.
